Fence Types & When to Use Them

Panel Fencing (Most Common)

Free‑standing chain‑link panels on sturdy bases; connected with couplers.
Typical spec: ~6' tall, ~12' wide panels (8' height available in some areas).
Best for: short‑term projects, quick installs, pavement or hard surfaces, events and crowd lines.
Pros: fastest setup/takedown; flexible; no ground disturbance.
Stability: weighted with sandbags or anchored; add bracing when using windscreen/privacy.

Post‑Driven Chain‑Link

Posts are driven into the ground and fitted with chain‑link fabric and hardware.
Typical heights: 6' or 8'. Post spacing: ~8–10' (varies by site).
Best for: multi‑month jobs, windy/slope areas, high‑security or long runs.
Pros: most stable option; handles wind better, especially with privacy screen.
Note: requires underground utility awareness; we’ll coordinate safe dig guidelines where needed.

Crowd‑Control Barricades (Optional)

Portable metal barricades for pedestrian flow, ticketing lines, and stage perimeters.
Best for: events needing fast, modular lane control.

Gates & Access Options

  • Single‑swing gates (approx. 4', 6', 12' widths)

  • Double‑swing gates (e.g., 12', 16', 24' clear openings)

  • Rolling/sliding gates (where space allows)

  • Vehicle + pedestrian gates in the same layout

  • Hardware: hinges, latches, hold‑open chains; locks by customer or by arrangement
Tell us the vehicle sizes and traffic patterns; we’ll size and place gates for safe ingress/egress.

Add‑Ons & Privacy Options

  • Windscreen / Privacy Mesh (various opacities)

  • Sandbags/weights (more required with windscreen)

  • Top rail / tension wire (added rigidity)

  • Debris netting (select applications)

  • Fence bracing for corners, long straight runs, and windy sites

  • Signage tabs for permits, directional or safety signs

Wind note: Privacy mesh increases wind load. We add extra sandbags and bracing and may recommend post‑driven fencing for exposed sites.

How Much Fencing Do I Need?

Quick steps

  1. Measure the site or area to enclose (length × width).

  2. Perimeter = 2 × (length + width).

  3. Add 5–10% for corners, overlaps, and terrain.

  4. Decide number and width of gates (counted within your total footage but require gate hardware).

Example: A 100' × 60' job area

  • Perimeter = 2 × (100 + 60) = 320'

  • +10% allowance ≈ 352' total

  • For panel fencing with ~12' panels → ≈ 30 panels (352 ÷ 12 = 29.33 → round up)

  • Add one 12' double gate with appropriate hardware.

Not sure? Call with your dimensions and gate needs—we’ll calculate the footage and hardware list.

Placement, Safety & Site Prep

  • Surface: Panels sit on bases; works great on pavement, concrete, or compacted ground.

  • Clearances: Keep walkways, drive lanes, hydrants, and exits clear and compliant.

  • Visibility: For events, place fencing to create clean entry lines and emergency egress paths.

  • Slope/Wind: On slopes or windy corridors, plan extra bracing and weights (or choose post‑driven).

  • Undergrounds: For post‑driven installs, identify utilities/irrigation.

  • Permits: Public right‑of‑way usage may require city permits—we’ll tell you what to ask your agency.

Construction Layouts We Do All the Time

  • Noise & dust control with windscreen (plus bracing)

Event Layouts We Do All the Time

  • Perimeter control for festivals, fairs, markets

How It Works

1) Get a Quick Quote
Share your address, target dates, linear footage (or dimensions), gate count/widths, and privacy needs.

2) Schedule & Confirm
We finalize layout details, surface conditions, delivery window, and any permits if near public streets/sidewalks.

3) Install
Our crew installs panels or post‑driven fence, sets gates, adds weights/bracing, and walks the site with you.

4) Repositions & Pickup
When your footprint changes, we reposition sections. At project wrap, we remove fencing on schedule and leave the site clean.

FAQs – Temporary Fencing

Panel vs post‑driven—what should I choose?
Panels are fast and flexible for short‑term use and hard surfaces. Post‑driven is more stable for long terms, wind, slopes, or when using heavy privacy screens.

How many sandbags do I need?
Typical panel runs use at least 2 per panel; with windscreen or high‑wind exposure, plan 4+ per panel plus bracing at intervals and corners.

Can you install on asphalt or decorative concrete?
Yes—panels don’t penetrate surfaces. For post‑driven on pavement, we’ll discuss options or choose panel with bracing.

Do you supply gates and locks?
Yes—swing or rolling gates with hardware. Provide your own padlocks, or ask us to include by arrangement.

What about permits for sidewalks or streets?
Many cities require encroachment permits. Check with your local public works; we’ll provide the specs they’ll ask for.

Can you add signage to the fence?
Yes—let us know if you have permit boards, directional signage, or branding banners.

What if my layout changes mid‑project?
Call us—we’ll reposition sections, extend the run, or add gates as your site evolves.

Policies & Helpful Notes (Short)

  • Safety first: We reserve the right to refuse unsafe placements.

  • Wind & privacy: Using windscreen increases wind load; additional weights/bracing or post‑driven may be required.

  • Access: Keep approaches clear for installation and pickup.

  • Damage/missing items: Customer is responsible for lost or damaged panels, bases, or hardware after delivery.

  • Permits: Customer is responsible for any right‑of‑way permits.
